ViFly (“we”, “us”, or “our”) offers the ClipClaw browser extension (the “Extension”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you install and use the Extension in Chrome or another Chromium-based browser.

The Extension is a companion to the ClipClaw mobile app. It helps you turn text into QR codes, edit Markdown, and optionally connect to a phone on your local network using a short pairing code. We do not require an account, and we do not operate servers that receive your editor content or QR payloads in normal use.

1. Summary

Your text, drafts, and pairing preferences are stored locally in the browser via Chrome’s extension storage.
Network access is used only for features you start (for example, checking a phone on your LAN, or opening Google Play).
We do not sell personal information, run advertising trackers, or use analytics SDKs in the Extension.
We do not use your content to train public AI models through this Extension.

2. Information the Extension Processes

2.1 Data you provide and store locally

The Extension may store the following on your device using chrome.storage.local:

QR and text content: Text you type or paste to generate a QR code, including text sent from a page selection via the context menu.
Markdown drafts: Content in the Markdown or rich-text editor until you clear it, export it, or remove extension data.
Editor preferences: Your choice of Markdown vs. rich-text mode.
Pairing settings: A 4-letter pair code and local subnet prefix used to build a LAN address for your phone.
UI state: Which tab was last active (for example, QR, Markdown, or Pair) when reopening the Extension.

Imported or exported .md files are read or written only when you choose a file through the system file picker.

2.2 Browser permissions

The Extension requests Chrome permissions only for the features below:

Permission	Purpose
`storage`	Save drafts, pairing data, and preferences locally in your browser profile.
`tabs`	Open or focus the Extension’s full-page UI when you click the toolbar icon or use “Send to ClipClaw” on selected text.
`contextMenus`	Offer a context-menu action to send the current page selection into the Extension’s QR view.
`system.network`	Read local network interface addresses (private IPv4 only) to suggest a subnet for LAN pairing when supported by the browser.
*Host access (`http:///`)*	Allow user-initiated HTTP requests to addresses on your local network (for example, verifying a paired phone) and to load linked pages you open (such as Google Play).

The Extension does not read your browsing history, passwords, or page content except the text you explicitly select when you use the context-menu action.

2.3 Local network pairing

When you enter a pair code, the Extension may:

Derive a private LAN URL from your code and subnet.
Send a single GET request to that address to confirm your phone is reachable.
Use WebRTC ICE candidates only inside your browser as a fallback to detect a private IPv4 subnet when the network API is unavailable.

These requests stay on your local network and are initiated by your actions. We do not receive the content of those requests on ViFly servers.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only:

To provide Extension features (QR generation, Markdown editing, LAN pairing, context-menu handoff).
To remember your preferences and drafts in the browser.
As you direct (for example, exporting a file or opening a store link).

4. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not transmit your editor text, QR payloads, or pairing history to ViFly servers in the current version of the Extension.

The following user-initiated or browser-level interactions may involve other parties:

Your phone on the LAN: When pairing works, your browser talks directly to a URL on your local network. That device is controlled by you, not by ViFly.
Google Play: If you follow a link to the ClipClaw Android app listing, you interact with Google Play, which has its own privacy terms.
Chrome sync / browser backup: Depending on your browser settings, extension storage may sync with your Google account or other backup tools. See Chrome’s privacy and sync settings.
Chrome Web Store: Installing or updating the Extension is subject to Google’s store policies.

No advertising or cross-site analytics SDKs are integrated in the Extension.

5. Data retention and deletion

Data stored by the Extension remains in your browser until you clear it in the UI, remove the Extension, or clear extension/site data in Chrome settings.
Uninstalling the Extension typically removes its local storage unless browser sync or backup restores it according to your settings.

6. Security

We rely on Chrome’s extension isolation and your device security to protect locally stored data. LAN pairing is intended for trusted networks; do not share pair codes with untrusted parties. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure—we encourage you to keep your browser and operating system updated.

7. Children’s privacy

The Extension is not specifically directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through dedicated online services in this Extension. 8. International users

If you use the Extension outside the country where ViFly operates, your information stays in your browser and on your local network as described above. Third-party services you choose to open (such as Google) may process data under their own policies.

9. Relationship to the ClipClaw mobile app

The Android app ClipClaw has its own privacy practices for on-device prompt and media storage. The Extension does not upload your Extension-side drafts to ViFly servers. When you pair with a phone, any data exchanged happens between your browser and that device on your network, subject to how you configure the mobile app.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version by updating the Effective date at the top and, where appropriate, providing notice in the Extension or Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where allowed by law.
